Yes, I had the Gameboy version and it was one of my favorite Gameboy games. They are different as the Gameboy version is not really Activision’s port of the Hal Labortory “New Ghostbusters II” game. The levels and stuff were different, but the graphics and engine are essentially the same. So the experience is very similar, and as such the Gameboy game does rule. It is weird that Activision used so much of the HAL game to make the gameboy version but would not port the NES version. I guess the thinking was they didn’t want the competition on the game they already released but didn’t want to start a Gameboy game from scratch.

I played this in my school days, its a fun and decent game, and as i discovered in the internet ages, much better than the normal Ghostbusters 2 game.

You’d think with such a great franchise, that we’d have gotten better games out of it. I must admit, I still to this day like the sh***y little NES version of the Ghostbusters theme. But otherwise, yeah, I rented both of those games as a kid at some point, and they were both terrible. We should have at least gotten this one, because HAL rarely ever makes a poor game out of anything. The real kicker though, is with how popular it was at one time, how the hell could we have never gotten a game based off of “The Real Ghostbusters” cartoon?
