Pat to Appear on History Channel’s PAWN STARS Monday Night!

Pat will be appearing Monday, Feb. 11 at 10PM EST/PST on the hit show Pawn Stars! Check your local listings for the exact time in your area. The episode is entitled “Room and Hoard,” so set those DVRs!

*I was just sorry to hear Pat could “really use the extra cash”. Pat has been a huge influence on my retro gaming collection… I think a lot of fans assume Pat, Game Sack, The Game Chasers (etc) rake in thousands of dollars a month. Just makes me that much more grateful they make these wonderful shows…

I have to say it was interesting. I was wondering which “This Guy I know” they were going to bring in for it,

I find it interesting Pat that you went to them to try to sell it, guess you
just didn’t want to go through the long drawn out process of selling
the two carts through other means, and knew that they would have that amount on hand?
Or were you being sneaky and just attempting to get on TV by asking
more then what you figured they would be willing to pay, and if they
were willing to pay it, well i now have a lot of cash!

As for if selling them in the first place, it’s ok to sell. They are mere objects, it’s the emotions that count.

Not that I didn’t already know Pawn Stars was fake, but you
think if Pat was really trying to sell those carts he would do so on Pawn
Stars, a place he knows are going to have to flip the games for a profit? Pat
who does Flea Market Madness, of all people knows how buying and selling
vintage video games works.

The same Pat, who goes to Comic Con, Magfest, E3, etc., probably every major gaming
expo, who is in constant contact with the target market for those games, needs
to go on Pawn Stars to sell them? Really?

Lol, I did think it’s funny they had to bring in an “expert” to
verify Pat’s games. Pat is the expert. Just another sign of it being fake
though, because the expert they brought in probably knows who Pat is, or at
least has seen him at one of the many expos they likely both attend.

I just happened to watch this with my friend’s as the Sharks game was pretty terrible, and I nearly shat a brick seeing Pat on TV! I love that their toy expert knew how big of a deal it was that he had BOTH NWC carts. You did a great job trying to entice them to buy, pointing out any nerd with a big enough wad is likely gonna pay whatever they can to get both at the same time. A shame they didn’t buy, but you’ll be able to get more elsewhere I’m sure

I don’t really think the show or the shop is fake, I think the more likely scenario is that the shows creators need to make sure interesting items consistently make their way through the doors,so the show stays interesting. Otherwise the show would be a half hour of “how much were you looking to get for your 5 crappy 360 games” or ” how much did you have in mind for your wedding ring from your failed marriage?”

I believe that place was on the last Game Chasers and is 3/4′s tourist shop and 1/4 regular pawn shop. Virtual Boy boxed for $500? Riiiiiiight.

Still, I saw the episode with Pat and laughed because we all know he’s never getting rid of those. I hope at least he drove to Vegas because there would be NO way in hell I’d bring those carts to an airport. Would you want to be told you’d have to check those in or have the TSA take them apart?

Some internet video creators make a living from their shows, but I think this is the exception rather than the rule. Off the top of my head I know the Nostalgia Critic, the Cinema Snob, and the Spoony One all make enough that they were able to quit their day jobs to work on making more videos.

The money “magically appears” from ad revenue. They might only make a small amount for each viewing of the video, but if the content creator has enough viewers and/or makes videos on a regular basis then it’s perfectly viable work. I don’t know about “rak[ing] in thousands of dollars a month” but it’s clear that a popular series can at least pay the bills with some money left over.

I watch the show, and I kept this on DVR, just because of your appearance. It was a good episode! I’m not surprised that you couldn’t bring yourself to sell those games, knowing what they mean to you. It probably wouldn’t have mattered what price they gave you.
